In this post I’ll be sharing about how to create a simple form using Google Drive. The best part about it is that its easy, free and you’ll get the responses in spreadsheet format. You can then download that spreadsheet or view it online.
To create a new form, Go to Google Drive and hit Create button. Once you hit Create button, some options will appear in drop down menu. Just select ‘form‘ option from this menu.
Once you click on Form, you’ll be asked to enter title for the form and also select a theme for the form. After selecting a theme, Click OK button. And then you can actually start creating your form. Check the screen below.
As you can see in the screenshot above, You can create a question and choose the Question type. At the moment the question type is Text. So basically user can type in any text in the answer box.
To add another question you can click on Add Item button. Also you can make this question compulsory by selecting ‘Required Question‘ button.
You can also add questions with different question type (like multiple choice, checkboxes, scale, grid, date, time, etc). Check the screenshot given below:
Getting The Form Link
Once you are done, just click on Send Form button. And you will get a message box which will display a link to the current form. You can now share this link with the desired recipients. Also if you would like to add collaborators (the people who can edit this form), you can do so by clicking on Add Collaborators button. Check the screenshot given below:
Choose Response Destination
Once you click on Done, you will be asked to choose a response destination. I prefer to choose New Spreadsheet as the response destination since it makes the job easy. Screenshot given below:
Once you click on create button, the spreadsheet will be setup. And you are good to go. Your form has been created successfully. Now comes the part where you can test your form.
View Live Form and Responses
You can find buttons just under the menu bar which will help you to view live form and view responses. Screenshot given below:
