How To Remove Google Plus Photos From Android Gallery

Previously i wrote about how to synchronize the pictures in your android phone with Google Plus. But this creates one problem, especially if you have low memory space in the phone.

When you turn on Sync for Photos with Google Plus, the existing photo albums in your Google Plus account start to appear in the Gallery. These albums will have small picasa logo over it. This would be okay if it was temporary cache. But it isn’t, these photos occupy storage space on your phone.

So for instance, if you have about thousands of pictures on Google Plus, they are downloaded to your phone when you turn on Sync. And we don’t want that to happen, right?

The Problem Again in Short – You want your photos to be uploaded/synchronized to Google Plus as soon as you capture them. That’s working. But the photos which are already present in your Google Plus account are being downloaded to your phone. Thus eating up your phone memory.

Our Aim – We want to upload/sync every new photo in the phone to the Google Account. But we don’t want the existing Google Plus photo albums to appear in Gallery. And thereby save storage space on phone.

1) Remove Google Plus Photo Albums From Gallery

  1. Disable Sync Temporarily. (Settings > Google > Sync)
  2. Go in Settings > Apps > Swipe Left Twice to see ALL apps.
  3. Select Gallery and hit Clear Data button.
  4. This will remove all photo albums from gallery.

Note that this deletes Google Plus photo albums only from your phone (not from Google Plus Account)

2) Enabling Sync Without Google Plus Photos

  1. Settings > Google > Sync (first option, usually replaced by your e-mail address)
  2. Over here you can choose what to Sync and what not to.
  3. Deselect Google Photos from this list.
  4. Go back, and you are done.

I hope this helps. Any questions? Feel free to comment below. Thanks.

Sync All Photos To Google Plus Using Auto Backup

As i said in my previous post, I have been uploading all my pictures to Google Plus. But i wanted a feature where i could just sync the picture as soon as i capture it. And the new Auto Backup feature helps me to do the exact same thing.

So in this post I’ll be talking about the Auto Backup feature of Google Plus on Jellybean 4.2.2. I am using it for about four days now after getting Nexus 4. Its amazing.

Auto Backup helps to upload (sync) all your clicks to a private album on Google Plus. Then later you can choose which pictures you would like to keep and which ones to delete. And of course you need an internet connection for uploading or syncing.

You can also choose whether you want to use Mobile Network or Wi-Fi for the sync process. I prefer to use Auto Backup only on Wi-Fi connection.

How to Enable Auto Backup?

  1. In Jellybean 4.2.2, You can just open Google Settings
  2. Select Google+
  3. Select Camera & Photos
  4. Select Auto Backup and turn it to ON.

Note that you should keep ‘Photo Size’ to Standard Size. Or else photos will be uploaded in original dimensions and they will occupy the storage space of your Google Account (15 GB free).

By selecting standard size, All synced photos will be scaled to 2048 pixels. If you upload anything above 2048 pixels, it will occupy the storage space.

Google Plus Auto Backup Jellybean 4.2.2

Check the image above for reference. On the left side you can see Camera & Photos screen. While on the right side, its Auto Backup configuration options.

When to Back UP ?

You can notice, i have selected ‘Only when there is a Wi-Fi connection available‘ option in both cases. (Photos and Videos). This will sync the photos as soon as you are connected on a Wi-Fi connection.

Where can i find the Photos Online?

All backup photos will be available over HERE. You can then download, move these pictures to album or delete them. Its your choice.

So that’s all in this post. Any questions? Feel free to comment below. Thanks.

Store Unlimited Photos On Google Plus

I have been storing all my pictures and videos on the physical hard disk drive in my laptop. And within a year 700 GB was just not enough for storing all my pictures, media, movies, games, etc. I had about 20 GB of pictures n videos of my friends and family. And i was about to buy an external HDD for extra space. But then i figured out that i can store all the photos on Google Plus for FREE.

But then you might ask me, why i didn’t think of Facebook? Well the answer lies in this post. Read it full and you will understand why i prefer Google Plus to store all my photos and videos online. And by online, i don’t mean ‘shared publicly’. You can choose whether you want to share privately, publicly or don’t share at all.

About Storage

When you create a Google Account, you get about 15 GB of Storage space. This space is used for Gmail Attachments, Google Drive, And Picasa Photos or Google Plus photos.

And if you run out of space then you can buy extra storage here. But this post isn’t about promoting their premium storage services. So how are you going to benefit from this storage if the limit is 15 GB ?

Free Storage

You will get free storage for photos uploaded to Google Plus provided these photos are of size less than 2048 x 2048 pixels. Photos bigger than 2048×2048 pixels use your storage. Everything smaller than that is free.

Also you can upload videos to Google plus. But you will get free storage for videos if and only if each video is less than 15 minutes in length.

There’s no free storage for files or other type of data.

So basically you get free storage for photos less than 2048 pixels, videos less than 15 minutes in length and everything else which you upload will count in the 15 GB of free storage.

My Storage Summary

I have uploaded tons of pictures and videos to my Google Plus account (many of which are shared privately). Now i have freed upto 20 GB of space on my laptop, which i can use for gaming ! Check the image given below.

Google Storage Summary

You can see, I have uploaded thousands of pictures on Google Plus but they aren’t occupying any storage space in my Google Account. So basically they are stored for free. And I’m also storing the image given above on Google (blogspot). This helps to load my blog page faster for anyone who visits the page. I’ll talk more about that in another post.

Internet Connection

Of course you need an internet connection to access your uploaded photos and videos. Since i don’t watch or use the pictures on my HDD, I prefer to store them online. If that’s what you need, you can storage them on Google Plus.

Why Google Plus and not Facebook?

I would prefer to store photos on Google Plus because of all the features it offers. Google Plus autobackup integrated in Android helps to backup pictures as soon as a new picture is clicked. You can then Go online and choose which ones to keep and which ones to delete.

Google Plus isn’t isolated, it is combined with several apps like Google Drive, Google Keep, Hangouts, Maps, etc. And this helps to organize and manage data easily because everything is available in a click or tap !

And the most important factor is Speed. Google is just incredibly fast. Its not just about storing data, but retrieving it faster. You can access your photos so fast, its comparable to the speed of browsing photos on your Hard Disk.

There are many more reasons, but I want to end this post here because its getting too long (haha). So i hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to comment below.

Google Nexus 4 vs Nokia Lumia 820 Review

As i said in my previous post, I’ll be talking about why i chose Google Nexus 4 over Nokia Lumia 820. Well now this doesn’t mean Lumia 820 is bad. It’s actually quite good. But lets talk about it in detail. I am writing a review for the very first time so if you find anything wrong or misleading here then feel free to put that in the comments.

The very first thing i would like to talk about is the Touch of both devices. In this case Lumia 820 beats Nexus 4 because the touch on Lumia 820 is just amazing. You’ll never feel that your touch didn’t register. If you touch the screen, its surely going to respond. Unlike other devices, where you touch the device but sometimes it fails to respond and you have to try again or tap again on the screen. Well that exact problem is most likely never going to happen on Lumia 820. So in short, the touch feels amazing.

The display type of Lumia 820 is AMOLED which is better than the Nexus’s True HD IPS Plus display. But its truly a matter of personal preference. You need to have both type of screens in front of you, and then you can decide what you actually prefer. Becaue AMOLED is kind of rich and vibrant in color but sometimes the colors might appear fake. While IPS display is less vibrant but the colors appear real. So it all depends on what you prefer.

The display Size of Lumia 820 is 480 x 800 pixels, 4.3 inches with ~217 ppi pixel density while Nexus 4 has a display size of 768 x 1280 pixels, 4.7 inches with ~318 ppi pixel density. So its very obvious Nexus Wins here.

Nokia Lumia 820 comes with 8GB internal memory which is expandable upto 64 GB using microSD card slot. While Google Nexus 4 comes in two types – 8GB or 16GB internal memory which is not expandable. If storage matters to you and if you need a lot of physical storage then Lumia 820 would be a good choice.

Lumia 820 has 1GB RAM whereas Nexus 4 has 2GB of RAM, So clearly Nexus wins here. If you want good performance for multitasking then you should go with Nexus 4.

Both devices have 8 MP, 3264 x 2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, but Lumia 820 has Carl Zeiss Optics. Which gives really great photographs. The picture quality of both devices is nearly same, but if you want a good camera phone then go with Lumia 820.

The secondary camera of Lumia 820 is VGA with 640 x 480 pixels. While Nexus 4 offers a better secondary camera with 1.3 MP. Nexus 4 wins with Secondary Camera.

Lumia 820 – Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon
Nexus 4 – Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon

You can find detailed review of both chipsets here. And clearly Nexus 4 gets a good score compared to Lumia 820.

Lumia 820 – Adreno 225
Nexus 4 – Adreno 320

Clearly, Nexus 4 has a better GPU. You can find more information about Adreno GPU’s over here.

Operating System

Lumia 820 – Windows Phone 8
Nexus 4 – Android, v4.2 (Jellybean)

This is exactly why i chose Nexus 4 over Lumia 820. The Windows Phone 8 OS isn’t bad, its actually very good and impressive. Just that the Windows store for Mobile Apps isn’t ready. Although they are adding up many applications everyday, the apps are not updated regularly. And not every app is available.

So if you want to install variety of apps, then first check out Windows Store before purchasing a product with Windows Phone OS. Check if the apps you need are available and updated. And if they are, then Lumia 820 can be good for you.

That’s all i want to share in this post. I hope this helps. Subscribe for more amazing posts. See ya.

Just Purchased Google Nexus 4

Three days ago I have purchased Google Nexus 4 and I have already installed tons of apps. It’s really awesome phone and I’m loving it. My previous phone was Nokia 5233 which I have been using since last three years plus. This is my first android phone and I have learned so much in just three days of android life. In fact I’m writing this article at 2:17 am on Google keep app with swift key while sleeping comfortably on my bed. It couldn’t be any easier than this. I’m looking forward to blog on the go with Nexus.

Since now I’m an android user, you can expect android posts on my blog soon. Well that’s all i wanted to post, but this is kinda short. So let me add up some more stuff –

After a year of Codefap’ing, I have earned just enough to buy Nexus 4. I was about to buy Nokia Lumia 820 which is for 21,209 INR. I had already ordered it from but then i changed my mind.

Well why i changed my mind? And why i chose Google Nexus 4 over Nokia Lumia 820, that i’ll talk in the next thread. The product was just shipped and i cancelled it, just to order Google Nexus 4.

And I am so happy about my decision. Flipkart guys delivered the phone in 3 days. I ordered the product on saturday night and it was delivered by monday evening. Their service is great, I would recommend flipkart anyday (At this moment, they deliver only in India).

Here are some of the pictures which i took using Nokia 5233 –

So that’s all in this post, If you have any questions, feel free to comment below. And thanks to you all (readers and viewers) for supporting  me, my blog and my videos. Thanks a lot guys.

Love you all 🙂

How To Add Audio Track In Adobe After Effects

The first time when i tried adobe after effects, i was impressed by it. I was enjoying learning new stuff and then a point came where i wanted to experiment by adding sound track or audio to my footage.

This time, the audio track simply didn’t play. So i searched for instructions over the internet and figured out how to turn on the audio preview in adobe after effects.

I thought it’s solved and all is working fine but then the audio used to make funny and cracking noises after playing for certain amount of time. This problem was something which took me really long time to solve. But i did figure it out in the end.

So here i am sharing the solution to both these problems (the ones marked in bold above).

Enabling Audio Preview

To Enable Audio preview, you need to go in Composition > Preview > Audio. And you’re done. See the screenshot given below.

Enable Audio Preview In Adobe After Effects

But this is not it, the second problem still remains. That is, the abnormal behavior of audio clip during playback. If it doesn’t happen with you, then your problem is solved. But if it does, then check the next point.

Fixing Audio Playback Problems

To fix any abnormal behavior of audio clip, all you need to do is use .aiff file format while importing the audio clip into adobe after effects.

You can use online converters like this one. Just convert your audio clip to .aiff format to use it in adobe after effects. This solves the problem. But if you have any questions, feel free to comment below. Thanks.

How To Create Wi-Fi Hotspot In Windows 8

This is one of the topics with which many people struggle and still it doesn’t work out. Creating a Wi-Fi hotspot can seem tedious and time consuming with all those settings and stuff. But i have found a simple solution to it.

You’re gonna love this. Its called Virtual Router Plus. Its job is to do one thing only, that is to create a Wi-Fi hotspot in minutes. You don’t need any technical knowledge to use this tool. As long as you know how to type and run an application, you are good to go.

Download Virtual Router Plus from its official website. Install it on your computer (its easy, don’t worry). And then finally, run it on your computer.

And yeah make sure that your computer is connected to the internet so you can share the connection using Virtual Router Plus. When you run the application, you ‘might’ get an error as shown below.

Virtual Router Plus Error

Just ignore it, Click Continue. If the error doesn’t appear, then well and good. The main screen of Virtual Router Plus is shown below.

Virtual Router Plus

Once on the main screen, Just fill in the Network Name, Password (essentially 8 characters long), Hit the refresh button and choose the proper Shared Connection. In my case i am using Local Area Connection.

Once configured, Just hit Start Virtual Router Plus Button. That’s it. You have created a Wi-Fi Hotspot in minutes. You can now connect to it using the password you have set. Thanks for reading.
