How to perform System Restore in Windows XP

We have seen how to create a system restore point in the previous article. Now lets see how to perform a system restore. You have to open the system restore utility by following these steps:

  1. Open Start Menu
  2. Go to Programs > Accessories > System Tools
  3. Click on System Restore

You have to select ‘Restore my computer to an earlier time‘. And click next.

You will be asked to select restore point. You can see a calender on the left and the corresponding restore points on the right. The date which has a restore point will be displayed in bold.

So click on the date and the list of restore points will pop up on the right hand side. Select your preferred restore point and hit next. A confirmation screen will appear.

You have to click on next and the system restore will proceed.

Note that, your computer might restart once or several times during this process. Once the computer reboots, you will get a message whether the system restore was successful or not.
