How to Create a System Restore Point in Windows XP

A restore point contains the information about a particular system state. So in case if anything goes wrong with your computer you can always perform a system restore to get back to a working system state.

Whenever you install applications on your computer, A restore point is automatically created. But some applications do not create a restore point on their own. So it is always better to manually create a restore point.

How to create a System Restore Point?

  1. Open Start Menu
  2. Go to Programs > Accessories > System Tools
  3. Click on System Restore

A wizard will begin. You will be given two options.

  1. Restore your computer to an earlier time
  2. Create a restore point

Click on Create a restore point. A screen will appear which will ask you to enter a description for your restore point. Enter a proper description like date and time, It will help you when you are about to perform a system restore.

Then after click Next. And it will take a while to create a restore point. Once its done you will get a screen as show below.
